Preparing for When Natural Disaster Hits Us at Home

Preparing for When Natural Disaster Hits Us at Home

The Northern California wildfires spread over four counties last month and grew at an enormous speed.  It was nice to see the majority of our companies set up shop in the “Insurance Camps” for local victims.   Now we reflect on what we can do to help us with future disasters.  We should always be prepared; have a family emergency plan, have an emergency kit and plenty of food and water on hand.   We need to do this for both our human and fur family members. Defensible space should be a common and yearly practice, keep trees and shrubs trimmed back and debris away from all buildings.  Many people in the fire zone had less than 5 minutes to evacuate.
